Johlene Sander
Johlene Sander started her nursing career in 1989 at the then Volks Hospital (now Mediclinic Cape Town) where she qualified as an Enrolled Nurse, and transferred to 2 Military Hospital, Wynberg (Cape Town) in 1993. She completed the Diploma in Nursing (Bridging Course) through the South African Military Health Service (SAMHS) Nursing College in 1997, qualifying as a Registered Nurse.
In 2000 she qualified as a Midwife and subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Administration through the University of Stellenbosch, in 2004. As a military nurse at 2 Military Hospital she gained experience in all the nursing disciplines before becoming the nursing Unit Manager of the Surgical Ward. Due to her involvement with wound care during this time, when given the opportunity to specialise, she completed the Holistic Wound Management Course at UFS. She gained knowledge and experience of wound care through working with private Wound Care Specialists during 2015/16. Currently, she is the Wound Care Specialist at 2 Military Hospital where she is tasked with the commissioning and management of a specialist wound care clinic whilst acting as an Assistant Manager Nursing.
In the course of her daily duties, she is consulted for wound care advise and in service training, whilst working hand in hand with representatives from the different wound care companies to enhance wound care in the hospital.
Johlene enjoys reading, camping, movies, attending the theatre and scrap booking. She is also “mother” to her much loved yorkie, Wollie.
